TRICHLOROACETIC ACID, a synthetic molecule, is a derivative of acetic acid in which the three hydrogen atoms of the methyl group have all been replaced by chlorine atoms. TCA 40% is indicated to treat the most severe skin conditions like hypertrophic scars, severe photo- and chrono-aging and severe actinic keratosis. TCAMD™ Resurfacing Peel penetrates the basal layer of the epidermis, papillary dermis, even extending to the upper reticular dermis. The application of TCAMD™ Resurfacing Peel causes coagulative necrosis of cells through extensive protein denaturation and resultant structural cell death.
RESULTS: The subsequent 5 to 7 days after application of TCAMD™ Resurfacing Peel, the epidermis and superficial dermis slough, carrying away cytologically atypical keratocytes and structurally compromised dermal connective tissue. As the wound heals, it is repopulated by deep follicular epithelium and newly generated connective tissue, therefore the skin is rejuvenated both clinically and histologically.
